How It Works

How Trust Ratings Work
Our platform ranks Black professionals and Black-friendly businesses using a Trust Rating system powered by three custom AI algorithms. These algorithms analyze profile data, user behavior, and location relevance to ensure accurate and fair rankings.

A higher Trust Rating means better visibility in search results. Ratings are influenced by:
Profile Completeness – The more details (services, photos, credentials, reviews) a professional or business provides, the higher their score.
Proximity to Search Location – Those closest to where you’re searching appear higher in results.
Reputation Signals – Reviews, ratings, and engagement patterns detected by our AI.

How We Rank Places
We rank locations based on key factors that impact Black people's quality of life, including:
Black Population Percentage – Measures representation in a community.
Affordability – Considers median gross rent.
Economic Stability – Factors in poverty rate.
Education – Accounts for high school and college graduation rates, amongst other criteria.

Emerald Rating Breakdown
5 Stars – Ideal, strong in all factors (*Emerald City).
4 Stars – Good, minor trade-offs.
3 Stars – Average, some strengths, some weaknesses.
2 Stars – Below Average, noticeable concerns.
1 Star – Poor, major issues.
0 Stars – Very Poor, not recommended.

*Emerald Cities are ideal cities for Black people on all metrics.
